As it turns out, the Ising model can teach us most of what we need to know about life. Admittedly, extracting its deeper existential life-lessons remains an open problem, and is beyond the scope of these notes. Fortunately for us, more elementary topics such as renormalisation, duality, conformal field theory, and the like are far more accesible.  These notes will therefore concern themselves with these low-hanging fruits.
